“Will I Walk?” is a social experiment to see if we can create the largest jury in
the world.
It allows you to vote daily on popular criminal cases in
the news. It tallies vote percentages in real time and shows you the ‘popular
vote’ on each case.
What can I do here?
Along with voting daily on popular cases, you can speak your mind using our
real time comment box, add stories you follow to your 'Watch List" so you can
easily go back each day.
How many stories are featured on the front page?
There are 30 stories featured on the front page. You may sort them by
"Newest" or by "Popular".
Popular is decided by number of votes within the last 7 days. The
stories that don't get as many votes are pushed out into the archives. If
you like a story then make sure you place it in your "Watch list" in case it
gets bumped into the archives.
Newest stories might not show up in the popular sort. If you want to
keep up on the latest, you should sort by "Newest"
Archives? What's that?
Our featured stories are shown on the front page. If a story isn't very
popular or there are newer stories above it, the story will be placed into the
archives. You can use the search function to find any story.
If I am a blogger or news service, can I use your widgets on my site?
Yes. That's what they are for!! Copy and paste the javascript to your
page and the widget will appear. The vote percentages will appear in real time
and your visitors will be able to vote on the story with from your site.
I've lost my password. Can you help me?
Yes. We store passwords as a 'one way hash'. - This means, no one can see the
real password (not even us!!). So... if you forget it, we'll need to reset it
for you.
If you forget your password, you may use the
reset my
password link to reset it. A temporary password will be emailed to you. Use
this to log in and change the temporary password to something you will remember.
Can I suggest a story?
Yes. Here are a few parameters for stories on "Will I Walk?".
You must be a member of "Will I Walk?"
It must be about a single person or entity charged with a crime
There must be a picture of the person charged
The story must be currently in the news with a valid link to the story
Mostly because it allows us to
be sure votes are fair. We can't have one person hitting the vote button a
hundred times a day :-)
Why do you want my email address?
Because it
is the only way we can reset your password if you lose it. You can 'opt' out of
any other types of communication from us in the account management page.
Will you email me?
We might if you want. It will be about "Will I
Walk?" - nothing else. No solicitations, no garbage. We will NOT give or sell
your email address to any outside source either.
